Hands-on Learning Printables for the Home and Classroom
Worksheets get a bad rap, but have you ever used a printable that was actually hands-on, created open-ended learning opportunities, and taught a subject without all the fluff?
Welcome to the Wooden Toadstool where that’s what we offer!
When I started teaching animal science, astronomy, art history, and world history to elementary students at an educational enrichment center I quickly found that a lot of worksheets were a waste of time (and money!) for my fast-moving small classes of homeschoolers. The worksheets had confusing instructions, were just drawing lines matching one confusing written term to another (when a lot of kids couldn’t read yet), or were just plain old boring.
Because of this, I started creating my own worksheets, printables, games, and slideshow presentations. I realized these items could be amazing tools for classrooms and at home, they just had to be used the right way. It was actually possible to make teaching a little easier without reducing the quality of the student’s learning.
I hope you enjoy using these resources as much as I enjoy making them!
